    LEHMAN TWP. — Penn State Extension Master Gardener committee members have announced that the 2016 Spring into Gardening Workshop will be held 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Technology Center, Penn State Wilkes-Barre Campus, Lehman Township.

    The all-day workshop will include sessions on growing and using herbs, gardening for birds and butterflies, organic gardening, insects in our lives, GMOs, tips for easier and safer gardening, straw-bale gardening and an introduction to pruning.

    Keynote speaker and Penn State Extension’s Regional Urban Forester Vincent Cotrone will address ways to manage the many challenges gardens and landscapes continue to face such as pest outbreaks like gypsy moths, weather extremes, soil issues, and improper maintenance. A plant sale will be held on site, and Master Gardeners will be available at the information table to answer your personal gardening questions.
