LEHMAN TWP. — The Lake-Lehman Foundation sponsored a Little Miss Lake-Lehman pageant for girls in the district’s elementary schools on Saturday, June 4.

Nineteen girls in three age groups — kindergarten and first grades, second and third grades, and fourth, fifth and sixth grades — competed for various titles, with an overall winner selected as Little Miss Lake-Lehman. The overall winner will ride in the 2016 Homecoming Parade and help the reigning Homecoming Queen crown the new queen.

Organizer Sandy Dobrowolski said the event gives a chance for elementary and high school students to interact.

“I think it’s important because the younger kids look up to (the high school students),” she said. “The elementary kids will be up (at the high school) eventually, so this also makes them more comfortable being there.”

The event also featured a People’s Choice winner in which attendees donated a $1 to vote, with proceeds benefitting the Lake-Lehman Foundation.

An ice cream social open to the community will be held afterwards.
