DALLAS TWP. — The first-ever Motorcycle Mass conducted Sunday, June 26 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Yalack Road.

Joe Snyder, the founder and president of the Rolling Souls Motorcycle Club, said the group is focused on raising $10,000 to benefit individuals who are Special Olympic competitors. Sunday’s events produced a reported $1,500.

Part of this effort, Snyder added, is a “Dream Ride” commencing Aug. 20 in Florida and culminating on Aug. 26 in Farmington, Connecticut, where a major event for Special Olympians is scheduled to be conducted.

The blessing of the bikes was led by Pastor Gunnar Siggurjonsson, of Iceland. Siggurjonsson, a biker in his own right, also spoke of the need for greater compassion and understanding.

Supporting the Rolling Souls were members of the Least of Saints and Distinctive Ladies motorcycle clubs. Overall, about 60 people were in attendance for the Mass and follow-up pig roast and blessing of the cycles.
