DALLAS — Vicki Oman of Berwick will display her collection of camel figurines at the Back Mountain Memorial Library in September.

Oman has been collecting camels for 20 years and currently has about 300 camels in her collection.

“One of my girlfriends gave me a camel for my birthday,” Oman said in a news release. “From that day on I decided to collect them. So whether I am traveling or shopping local, I look for camels to add to my collection.”

Oman’s camels come from across the country and around the world.

“I have camels from Dubai, New York, California, and various other places,” she said.

Pieces in Oman’s camel collection include a camel lamp, camel shoes, a camel purse, camel mugs, a camel seat, a camel wind chime, camel salt and pepper shakers, and “of course various sizes and shapes of camels,” she said.

Members of the community are invited out to see Oman’s camel collection throughout the entire month of September at the Back Mountain Memorial Library.
