HARVEYS LAKE — The Harveys Lake Environmental Advisory Council, also known as EAC, recruited local residents, students, scouts, and visitors in a community effort to collect litter around the lake on April 23.

The community-wide routes were determined upon registration.

The event started at the Harveys Lake Beach Club, Pole 187.

After signing in, participants gathered for a brief introduction, instructions and safety guidelines. Then, gloves, trash bags and safety vests were distributed.

Volunteers broke into groups, dispersed to various locations around the lake to collect litter or take on a service project of their own.

The event has been organized in cooperation with the Great American Cleanup of Pennsylvania, part of a nationwide cleanup campaign involving government agencies, environmental and community groups, businesses, and individuals.
