The Wyoming Valley could finally see its first measurable snow today.

According to a hazardous weather outlook issued by the National Weather Service, widespread light snow is likely today. Brief snow squalls are also possible from mid-afternoon to early-evening hours, which could reduce visibility and create hazardous travel conditions.

Up to 2 inches of snow could fall today.

No watches or warnings have been issued for Luzerne or Lackawanna counties.

The National Weather Service indicated that it was 20 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, with fair skies reported.

A slight chance of snow will be possible before 1 p.m. today, but snow is expected to become likely between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., followed by a chance of snow after 2 p.m. Up to 2 inches of snowfall is predicted for today, and the high will be near 34.

Snow will continue to be likely before 8 p.m. tonight, followed by a chance of snow showers after midnight. Less than an inch of snow is expected, and tonight’s low will be around 18.

Partly sunny skies are predicted for Wednesday, along with a slight chance of snow showers before 1 p.m. The high will be near 22. Mostly cloudy skies will follow into Wednesday night, with a low around 15.

Mostly cloudy skies are expected on Thursday, with a high near 28. Those mostly cloudy skies will follow into Thursday night, with a low around 23.
