A motor vehicle accident has left more than 2,000 properties in the Back Mountain area without electrical power Saturday evening, a company representative said.

UGI Spokesman Joseph Swope said he could not provide a timeline of when service might return to the affected areas, but stated crews were investigating the accident and attempting to reroute power.

“It’s really going to depend on the extent of the damage,” Swope said.

According to UGI’s outages map, 1,360 are without power in Harveys Lake and another 544 are affected in Dallas Township. More than 200 customers in Lake and Lehman townships are also experiencing outages, according to the map.

Earlier Saturday, a UGI utility pole fire caused 976 properties in the Hanover Township area to lose electrical power.

Swope confirmed power was restored to those customers around 6 p.m.
