WILKES-BARRE — The Wyoming Valley could see some showers and thunderstorms as the week rolls along.

The National Weather Service indicated it was 71 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, and fair skies were reported.

Mostly cloudy skies are expected today, along with a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Up to a quarter of an inch of rain is possible, and today’s high will be near 88.

Cloudy skies will carry over into tonight, along with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain, and up to a quarter of an inch of total rainfall is expected. The low will be around 70.

Partly sunny skies will return Wednesday, with a high near 83. Mostly cloudy skies will follow into Wednesday night, with a low around 64.

Thursday will bring mostly sunny skies, along with isolated showers and thunderstorms. The high will be near 87.

Isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible before 9 p.m. Thursday night — otherwise, partly cloudy skies are expected. The low will be around 64.
