The chance of rain will plague the Wyoming Valley as the weekend approaches.

The National Weather Service indicated it was 59 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, with fair skies reported.

Patchy fog is expected before 9 a.m. today — otherwise, sunny skies should stick around for the rest of the day. The high will be near 85.

Clouds are expected to increase tonight, with a low around 63.

Partly sunny skies are expected on Thursday, along with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Less than a tenth of an inch of total rainfall is expected, and the high will be around 85.

Mostly cloudy skies will carry over into Thursday night, along with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. The low will be around 68.

Partly sunny skies will round out the week on Friday, along with a slight chance of showers. The high will be near 87.

Clear skies will follow into Friday night, with a low around 62.
