Wendy Cominsky, 45, a Democrat from Dallas Township, has announced she is running for Luzerne County Council.

Cominsky owns and operates Au Salon in Dallas and previously owned Country Scissors from 1995 to 2002.

The mother of a 15-year-old daughter, Cominsky said she attended trade school after high school and supports the “working class.”

Cominsky said she has volunteered as an activist for years to protect the environment and property values and improve child safety and education.

“I will fight for what’s right because I have been fighting for many, many years. I will be able to do more for our county as a whole by being elected to Luzerne County Council,” she wrote in a press release.

She listed crime reduction, increased rehabilitation for prison inmates, county debt reduction and the promotion of small businesses among her goals.
