Rain and some scattered thunderstorms are in the weekend forecast for the Wyoming Valley.

The National Weather Service indicated it was 48 degrees as of 7:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, and light rain and fog were reported.

Today, rain will continue for much of the day with the high near 51. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent.

Tonight rain likely before 7 p.m., then isolated showers between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. with patchy fog after 11 p.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

On Sunday, the forecast calls for isolated showers before 2 p.m., then scattered showers and thunderstorms between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 4 p.m. Patchy fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 62. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Sunday night, scattered showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m., then a slight chance of showers between 8 p.m. and 3 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Clear weather returns Monday when it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 65.

Monday night it will be mostly clear, with a low around 46.
