Kieran Sutton closed out the cross country portion of his collegiate distance running career by earning All-American honors with a 25th-place finish at National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II Championships at the Abbey Course in Saint Leo, Fla.

The senior from Lake-Lehman helped Shippensburg finish 16th in the country and as the best team from the Atlantic Region.

Sutton was one of just two Atlantic Region individuals to earn All-American recognition by finishing in the top 40.

The nationals appearance was the fourth by Sutton, who worked his way up from 193rd as a freshman to post the best finish by a Shippensburg runner during his four years at the school. He was 46th last year.

Sutton’s time of 31:00.9 was more than a minute better than all of his teammates.

WOMEN’S

Dallas graduate Regan Rome finished 69th in her third trip to NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships.

The junior qualified as part of the William & Mary team as a freshman and has returned each of the last two seasons as an at-large qualifier. Last year, she earned All-American recognition.

Rome finished in 20:40.8 less than a minute of the pace of the winner, Karissa Schweizer from Missouri.

Nationals concluded a season in which Rome was named Colonial Athletic Association Runner of the Week three times, won the CAA individual title and placed sixth in the Southeast Region.

Rome is expected to return to competition Dec. 3 for the beginning of indoor track and field season at the Christopher Newport University Holiday Open in Newport News, Va.
