Nine players from Dallas have been selected to play in the UNICO Football All-Star Classic, which is scheduled for Nov. 28 at 1 p.m. at Wyoming Area’s Anthony “Jake” Sobeski Stadium in West Pittston.

Wyoming Valley Conference coaches changed the format for the game this year.

Head coaches Mike McCree from Hanover Area and Scott Dennis from Holy Redeemer alternated selected schools to be on the rosters of their teams. McCree’s team will be known as the Miners. Dennis’ team will be known as the Pioneers.

Dennis selected Dallas along with Berwick, Crestwood, GAR, Hazleton Area, Holy Redeemer, Pittston Area and Wyoming Area.

Lake-Lehman, with seven selections, and Tunkhannock, with four players, are part of McCree’s Miners team.

The Dallas selections are: running back/linebackers Cole Dixon, David Simpson and Bret Storrs; wide receiver/defensive backs Tanner Gattuso and Jack Tomko; quarterback Matt Harrison; two-way linemen Owen Mackiewicz and Ian Spare; and tight end/defensive back Ryan Martin.

Lake-Lehman selections are: tight end/defensive linemen Zach Brucher and Chris Rosencrans; running back/linebacker Nick Eury; fullback/linebacker Luke Hummel; two-way linemen Connor McGovern and Chris Traver; and running back/defensive back Joey Vigil.

Tunkhannock choices are: running back/defensive end Ryan Cywinski; and two-way linemen Josh Flaherty, Ricky Stevens and Brad Webb.

Players from teams still active in the state playoffs will not be able to participate.

Tunkhannock ended play with the regular season. Dallas and Lake-Lehman were scheduled to start district playoffs Nov. 13-14.
