Dakota Quick set a school record and Tunkhannock continued its strong start in wrestling by winning the 35-team Sheetz Classic in Cresson Dec. 18-19.

Quick reached the 132-pound finals with the 60th pin of his career, breaking the school record held by Bob Farber since 1992.

Sam Rice, who dropped a two-point decision in the 195-pound final, joined Quick in finishing second to lead the Tigers.

Tunkhannock has won both tournaments it entered so far this season and is also 5-1 in dual meets. The Tigers will host the Tunkhannock Kiwanis Tournament Dec. 29-30.

Tommy Traver, Mike Manley and Dalton Ray finished third while Jake Richards and Bill Manley were fifth.

While Tunkhannock was picking up another team title, several Lake-Lehman and Dallas individuals were doing well in tournaments the same weekend.

Lake-Lehman placed 19th out of 27 teams from seven states during the Flo X-Calibur Tournament at Wilkes University. It was the best finish by any of the four Wyoming Valley Conference teams in the event.

Bob Lipski was fifth at 138 pounds to lead the Black Knights. Tommy Williams was seventh at 182 and Mike Slivinski was eighth at 220.

Dallas went 3-2 in the Ernie Yates Duals at Berwick.

Alec Sampson and Cole Dixon each went 5-0 for the Mountaineers. Xavier Barber went 4-1 with four falls while Steven Newell and Daniel Burkhart also went 4-1.
