Lake-Lehman’s Matt Dragon won his fourth consecutive District 2 Class AA championship with a 15-5 win against Western Wayne’s Dan Vogel in the 152-pound final at the championships held at Scranton Prep.
Dragon was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler. Lake-Lehman’s Jeremy Schutz (140) and Andy Josuweit (130) also won District 2 crowns.
The Lake-Lehman wrestling team was crowned Northeast Regional Class AA champions for the second time in five years during the meet at Williamsport. Lehman’s 81.5 points edged Montoursville by nearly 10 points.
The Black Knights had seven of 10 wrestlers made it to the podium with two second, three third and two fourth-place finishes. Vit Pilosi came in third in the heavyweight division, while Matt Raczkowski (103), Tim Sayre (135), Allen Scott (119) and Mike Budzak (189) also advanced to states with top-three finishes.
Dallas’ Aaron Gringo finished third and advanced to states in the 152-pound event.
Dallas field hockey senior captain Jill Radzinski signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her athletic and academic career at Penn State University.
As a junior, the Mountaineers won the district championship. As the only senior in 1984, Radzinski led Dallas to a second-place finish in the Wyoming Valley Conference. Among the schools interested in Radzinski were Syracuse University, Ball State, Northern Illinois, Southwestern Missouri, University of Toledo, Bloomsburg University, Brown, Yale and Lehigh University.
Lake-Lehman produced two of the three District 2 champions in the Class B regional tournament at Williamsport.
Black Knight grapplers Steve Klemunes (112) and Doug Agnew (119) each won district crowns and advanced to the state tournament at Penn State.
