First-year Lake-Lehman volleyball coach Jim Hummer guided the East team June 11 in the Wyoming Valley Conference Senior All-Star Match at Holy Redeemer.

The West, led by a strong contingent from WVC and District 2 champion Holy Redeemer, defeated the East, 25-20, 25-22, 25-14.

Hummer had one of his players in the game.

After the East scored on a West serve to begin the match, Bernard Karlowicz from Lake-Lehman served five straight points for an early 6-0 East lead.

Steven Darling from Dallas was also part of the team.

The East also included players from Coughlin, Nanticoke, Hanover Area and North Pocono.

WVC coaches earlier selected their all-star team for the regular season.

Dallas junior outside hitter/defender Jared Thompson was a second-team selection.

Girls lacrosse

Lake-Lehman’s Katie Strohl and Dallas’ Sam Delamater, a pair of junior attack/midfielders, were first-team selections on the WVC Coaches All-Star girls lacrosse team.

Tunkhannock had four players, Dallas three and Lake-Lehman one on the second team.

Senior midfielder/defender Haley Toczko, senior defender Rachel Miroslaw, junior Makayla Franko and sophomore Haley Toczko represented Tunkhannock.

Kyleigh Kravitz, a senior midfielder, and Lauren Delamater, a freshman attack, were the Dallas selections.

Junior defender Casey-ann Keiper made the team from Division 2 champion Lake-Lehman.
