Giants 14,

Yankees 8

Mitchell Burgess clubbed three home runs to carry the Back Mountain National Little League Giants to a 14-8 win over the Yankees at Back Mountain in six innings.

Burgess racked up eight RBIs on three hits for the Giants. He homered in the second, fourth, and fifth innings.

Both squads had things going at the plate, tallying 22 runs and 22 hits, including eight extra base hits. Managers of the two teams seemingly emptied their bullpens in search of the win, as there were eight pitchers used in the game.

The Giants’ bats came to life in the second inning. In the inning the Back Mountain National LL Giants scored eight runs. The Giants scored in the second on a two-run single by Aaron Patton, a groundout by Ty Edmundson, an RBI single by Gary Weaver, and a home run by Burgess.

Additional home runs for the Giants came when Burgess homered in the second, fourth, and fifth innings.

The Back Mountain National LL Giants piled on four more runs in the top of the fifth. Nick Finarelli started the inning with a double, bringing home Tyler Casey and Weaver. That was followed up by Burgess’ two-run home run, bringing home Finarelli.
