DALLAS TWP. – Tunkhannock handed the eventual champions their only loss, but fell short on a tiebreaker and missed out on a chance to pursue the title at the 9-10-year-old Little League Softball East Regional Tournament at the Back Mountain Little League Field, Aug. 6-12.

Champions from nine states came to the Back Mountain for the tournament, the highest level to which teams of that age can advance.

Camden Wyoming from Delaware defeated Snug Harbor from New York, 4-0, in the championship game.

Tunkhannock tied the two eventual finalists at 3-1 in the Mid-Atlantic pool, but lost out on a run-differential tiebreaker when semifinalists were being determined.

Westport from Connecticut and Cranston National Budlong, the top two teams from the New England pool, finished third and fourth.

Tunkhannock opened with a 12-2 loss to Snug Harbor Aug. 6, then won its last three games. It defeated Bordentown, New Jersey, 7-4, then Sharpsburg, Maryland, 5-2, before beating Camden Wyoming, Delaware, 3-2.
