Shavertown United Methodist Church golf tournament is Sept. 19

KINGSTON TWP. — The Shavertown United Methodist Golf Tournament will be held Monday, Sept. 19 at the Huntsville Golf Club, 30 Hayfield Road. The proceeds benefit the church youth programs, mission work and ministries. The format is four-person captain and crew with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. and at that time the practice areas will be open for all participants.

Snacks will be available and will be provided by the Masonic Village in Dallas. Dinner will be served immediately following the event at approximately 3 p.m. at the Huntsville Golf Club.

The cost of the tournament is $100 per person, which includes green fees, cart and dinner. Dinner only for guests is $20 per person. There will be a number of skill prizes such as longest drive, putting contest, closest to the pin and straightest drive.

Mail company/team name and the names of participants with your check payable to Shavertown UMC for $100 per golfer to Shavertown United Methodist Church, 163 N. Pioneer Ave., Shavertown, PA 18708. Please note GOLF in the memo section of the check.

Sponsorship opportunities are also available. All sponsors will have their company name prominently displayed at the event. Hole sponsorships are $100.

Patron sponsorships are available for $25. Donations of “goody baskets” are also requested for award purposes. Make checks payable to SUMC and return to the above address. Completed baskets should be delivered to the church office by Sept. 9. Note the name of the basket donor as you would like it to appear in the program.

Players and sponsors are urged to respond by Sept. 9. All awards will take place at the end of the day. For further information, call the church office at 570-675-3616.
