Two former state cross country champions from Dallas led their college teams during the Spiked Shoe Invitational cross country meet Sept. 10 at Penn State University.

Dominic DeLuca, the 2013 Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Class AA individual champion, led the Cornell University men to a second-place team finish.

Lindsey Oremus, a state team champion and individual runner-up while running for the Mountaineers, was the first finisher for the St. Joseph’s University women.

DeLuca was 10th out of 136 men’s runners, finishing the 5.2-mile course in 26:49. Syracuse won the team title with 19 points and Cornell was second out of 11 teams with 67.

Oremus was 36th out of 110 runners with a time of 22:54 for the 6,000-meter (3.7-mile) course.

Maggie Toczko, a Syracuse University freshman from Tunkhannock, was 38th.
