Shavertown’s Patrick McGrath scored his first career American Hockey League goal April 8 to help the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 2-1 road win over the Hartford Wolf Pack.

McGrath was rushing toward the net as Adam Krause skated out from a behind the goal and sent a pass into the crease. McGrath one-timed a shot to break a scoreless tie at 3:06 of the second period.

The Penguins clinched a 15th straight trip to the Calder Cup Playoffs, the longest active streak in the AHL, earlier in the week.

The game was the 27th this season and 48th of his career for McGrath in the AHL, the top level of minor-league professional hockey in North American. He has three career AHL assists, including two this season.

McGrath has previously scored professionally while playing for the Wheeling Nailers in the ECHL.
