Corey McAndrew made 21 saves Tuesday when Dallas became the first team in the five-year history of Wyoming Valley Conference boys lacrosse to defeat visiting Delaware Valley with a 7-5 win.

McAndrew, an all-star goalie who has committed to Frostburg State to continue playing lacrosse, made at least five saves in each quarter to hold off the Warriors attack.

Michael Starbuck led the Dallas offense with two goals and an assist. Josh Kalna also scored twice while T.J. Herron had a goal and an assist.

Trevor Martin had three goals and Josh Balcarel had two for Delaware Valley, the four-time defending champion which had been 47-0 in WVC play.

Dallas used the win to move into a three-way tie for the WVC Division 1 lead with Delaware Valley and Wyoming Seminary at 4-1.

Paige Motovidlak won both hurdles races and ran a leg on the winning 400-meter relay team to help Lake-Lehman maintain the WVC Division 2 lead by improving to 4-0.

Morgan Marchakitus won the long and triple jumps while Emily Johns won the shot put and discus.

The Black Knights lead Berwick (3-0) by a half-meet.

Riley Newman won the 800, 1600 and 3200 to lead the Black Knights to the WVC Division 2 win.

Kyle Sincavage went 3-for-3 with a double and Garret Weston drove in three runs to help Lake-Lehman wrap up the win in five innings.

Alex Magdalinski struck out seven while walking just one in the complete game.

Lake-Lehman scored five runs each in the bottom of the second and fourth innings to post its third straight win. The Black Knights improved to 5-2, second-best in WVC Division 3.

Chris Hadsall had two hits, two runs and two RBI. Mike Sikora, Justin James and Garret Kolb also had two hits.

Coughlin swept by 25-18, 25-15, 25-18 scores.

Josh Company had nine service points for the Black Knights.

Emily Farrell, Abby Zolner and Alicia Langan won two individual events each for Dallas.

The Mountaineers are 3-0 to join Pittston Area (4-0) as the only unbeatens in WVC Division 1.

Farrell won the 400 and javelin and was also part of the winning 1600 relay team with Zolner, who won both hurdles races. Langan took the shot put and discus.

Tunkhannock 6

J.D. Barrett’s fourth hit of the game, a bases-loaded triple in the fifth inning, helped the Mountaineers break open the game and hand the first-place Tigers their first WVC Division 2 loss.

Barrett was 4-for-4 with four RBI as Dallas worked its way back from Tunkhannock scoring five times in the top of the first.

Mike Collins drove in the second and third runs of the nine-run outburst with a pinch-hit double.

Will McCrum added two hits, including a triple, and scored twice.

David Baltrusaitis tripled twice to drive in four runs while Matt Goodwin went 3-for-4 for Tunkhannock.

Dallas 0

Gwen Glatz threw a five-hit shutout and Jess Parente went 3-for-3 to lead Wyoming Area to the WVC Division 2 win.

Christina Schappert went 2-for-2 for Dallas.

Cassie Konopki had a triple, double and two RBI, including the game-winner, to lead Lake-Lehman, which pulled out the WVC Division 3 win with three runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Chloe Van Gorder went 4-for-4 with two runs scored. Hunter Kline had two hits and two RBI. Emily Smith and Hayley Evans also had two hits.

Unbeaten WVC Division 2 leader Nanticoke used a run in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the win over the defending champions.

The game was a rematch of a playoff that was needed to decide last season’s division title.

Vince Ferrari scored five goals while Owen Morgan added four goals and two assists in the win.

Charlie Kushke chipped in with three goals and an assist. Luke Yaple made 10 saves.

Emily Johns swept the throwing events to help Lake-Lehman defeat the defending division champions in a meet between two of the remaining three unbeatens in WVC Division 2.

Jace Garnick won the 800 and ran legs on the winning 3200 and 1600 relay teams.
