The starting salary for Luzerne County sheriff deputies is increasing to $42,000 under a new union agreement the County Council unanimously approved Tuesday.

Luzerne County’s Commission on Opioid Misuse and Addiction Abatement advanced one proposed earmark to County Council for its consideration, but tabled two others Wednesday.

A new $15 fee will be added to deeds and mortgages recorded in Luzerne County to fund the creation of a blight demolition fund, County Council unanimously decided Tuesday.
